My research has been focused on understanding the influence of dynamic stressing on fluid flow in geophysical media as well as the influence of mechanical and chemical alterations on hydrological and thermal properties of fractures. I have also focused my efforts investigating rupture processes and the influence of heterogeneities on the evolution of fractures.
The fundamental research supports a range of geophysical problems related to fluid flow and fracture mechanics, in the broader scheme, relevant to earthquakes and energy resources. Examples includes:
